Galuppi and Music Festival

Baldassare Galuppi was one of Italy's most original comic composers but his music was unjustly forgotten over the years.
The purpose of the Galuppi and Music Festival exhibit, "The sites of Baldassare", is to revive his art through a series of concerts to be held in the sites he frequented during his life.
The festival is scheduled to run from September through October with concerts in Venice and other islands in the lagoon.
The event has been running for sixteen years and has now received international acclaim with the participation of famous groups and soloists.
This year's festival is divided between the revisitation of Galuppi's repertoire and the one hundredth anniversary celebrations of Purcell, Händel, Haydn and Mendelssohn.
The Fondaci Project, an Ottoman music concert with traditional Turkish instruments, will add an exotic touch to the festival.
The purpose is to promote the musical aspects of those communities from other countries that were assisted by Venice in trade and cultural exchanges in the past.
Like every year, the Festival attempts to update its line-up and propose new themes, new locations and new artists to create a cultural and musical itinerary to reveal the Venice of the Venetian Republic era.
